Learning a lot these days. Haven't been blogging for ages cos we are now taking care of our 3 nephews. So now I have 5 boys in my house. All 7 and under. That's including a 1 year old.
As I'm learning and relearning in life-- Time always tells. Time goes on. Friends come and go. What we think is important may be the least important.

This is my son. He's hard to keep an eye on.
Inside I still feel like a little kid.
I'm so selfish. |

I am in the process of trying to identify this bushy trailing plant. It grows like a weed, but has nice foilage that doesn't resemble any weeds in this area. This picture is from last week. The trailing stems are double, but the zinnia next to it grows just as fast.

Just found out this plant or weed is called lamb's quarters. It's more like a weed. People pull them out as weeds. Others use them for salads and food. I guess the seeds were in the soil that I had disturbed when I mixed in new compost. Even a top layer of compost didn't prevent it from growing. I read that the seeds can stay alive and dormant for 40 years in soil. I might decide to leave one plant, because birds love their seeds. Depending how things go, I might end up pulling them out. Their seeds might be good for the birds, but not for my garden. The only problem with pulling them out is that there are seedlings next to them and I might uproot them all. I guess I can get weed killer spray.
*********** update: pulled them all out. Now my little dirt patch looks a bit bare. I planted one of my potted zinnias (that I started from seed) into one of the empty spaces. |
